| FA051 – Anatomy of Unplugging Your Kids, Part 1 FA052 – Anatomy of Unplugging Your Kids, Part 2 David Dutwin is a scholar of political communication, the formation of mass opinion, and research methodologies. He has taught at the Universities of Washington, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. Dr. Dutwin is the Vice President of Social Science Research Solutions, a branch of International Communications Research, located in Media, PA. He works with a number of clientele on survey research projects including ABC News, the Washington Post, the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, the Urban Institute, Public Agenda, the Pew Hispanic Center, AARP, and many others. In addition to his book on raising children in the age of digital media, Unplug Your Kids, he has published a number of research articles on topics ranging from nursing shortages to Hispanic political party affiliation to best practices regarding high quality survey research. David is a Research Scholar of the Institute for Jewish and Community Research, where he is currently working on two book projects regarding collegiate faculty–one on tolerance and the other on the sociopolitical culture of faculty on campus. David attained his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. |

Barbara Desmarais (last name is French so it’s De – mah – ray) is a parenting and life coach and mother to four young adult children. She has worked in the area of family life education for over 20 years which originally stemmed from her work as an early childhood educator. She is a sought after speaker in the Greater Vancouver area and is frequently quoted in Today’s Parent magazine, including this month’s issue. She has been coaching parents privately for over 6 years. Barbara also has an extensive background in American Sign Language so her services are offered to both deaf and hearing parents. Apart from her work with parents, she teaches Sign Language to babies. |

Brenda is the notorious middle child who dares to color outside the lines. She lives with her husband and two daughters enjoying vacations to the OBX, organic foods, dark chocolate, and garage sales. Her devoted office mates are Opie and Andy…two mini-doxies. She earned a Masters Degree in Religious Education, worked as a hospital chaplain, parent educator, and then served as the parenting expert on FOX TV4 in Kansas City, while living in Missouri. In 2001, The Nixons moved to Brenda’s home state, Ohio. Today, she speaks nationally, writes, and teaches on child behavior and parenting. |
