My eldest daughter is 13 and is very athletic. We try to focus our body talk on having a "healthy" body or "unhealthy" body, and it's never related to size or shape, only good food and exercise, strength, endurance.

I have noticed though that my daughter has noticed that she's shaplier than her longer, leaner friends, and hope that we've instilled enough "healthy's all that matters" talk into her (and self-esteem!) that she'll be easily able to appreciate the differences between herself and her friends, rather than negatively dwell on them.
