Autism and employment

A study published in the July 2008 issue of Pediatrics examined employment status and child care problems of families with autistic children. Parents of children with autism were more likely to use community child care than those without autistic children. They also reported that the diagnosis influenced their employment decisions. In addition, the authors noted that problems with child care were more likely to be reported by parents of children with the disorder than those without.
