Diet has little impact on ADHD symptoms

The May issue of Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition contains a review of studies linking diet to hyperactivity. Parents report that their children are distracted and fidgety an hour after eating sugary foods, but this is related to their expectations rather than the behaviour being observed. Only a minority of kids showed a change in hyperactivity and distractibility related to diet. A combination of food, genetics and environmental toxins is more likely to affect the symptoms.
